Pacific Biochar and Humboldt Sawmill generate 6,900 CCP-labelled carbon credits

Pacific Biochar and Humboldt Sawmill Company have partnered to convert sawmill residues into biochar, generating over 6,900 Core Carbon Principles (CCP)-labelled carbon credits. The project, a retrofit to an existing bioenergy facility, is expected to produce approximately 10,000 credits annually over 30 years. This initiative addresses challenges in utilising woody biomass while achieving verifiable carbon dioxide removal in California. The biochar is deployed on agricultural lands, enhancing soil health and sequestering carbon with over 95% projected to remain stored beyond 200 years.
