Biochar Industrial Group (BIG) has launched its 'Biochar-as-a-Service' model, partnering with Releaf Earth in Nigeria to convert palm kernel shell waste into biochar. This collaboration, an initial commercial deployment, aims to transform agricultural residues into environmental and financial assets. BIG provided engineering oversight for the thermal conversion process and managed data documentation for carbon credit verification. The project generated verified carbon removal credits, which were sold to international technology companies, creating a new revenue stream from agricultural byproducts. This initiative addresses waste disposal challenges and establishes a carbon-rich soil amendment for regional agriculture.
