Central Asia carbon market shows growth with 30M credits issued

Central Asia has issued approximately 30 million carbon credits to date, with 12.6 million from currently active projects. Uzbekistan accounts for the majority of issued credits, largely due to the Hududgaz gas leak reduction project (VCS4531), which has issued 9.5 million credits. A pipeline of 30 projects across the region could add an estimated 11.9 million credits annually. Kazakhstan holds the largest project pipeline, while Turkmenistan has yet to register its first project. Only 2.1 million credits have been retired regionally, leaving most recent issuance available.
