Microsoft has agreed to purchase 1.24 million tonnes of biochar carbon removal (BCR) credits from Exomad Green over a 10-year period. This represents the largest BCR deal by volume to date and builds on previous transactions between the companies. The agreement incorporates Carbonfuture MRV+ for digital monitoring, reporting, and verification, ensuring lifecycle tracking of CO2 removal. Exomad Green, which uses sustainable forestry residues to produce biochar, is certified under the Puro.earth Biochar Methodology.
