Zambia authorises BURN clean cooking credits for CORSIA use

Zambia's Ministry of Green Economy and Environment has authorised clean cooking credits from African developer BURN for use in the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA). This marks Zambia's first such approval, covering credits generated during the 2025–2030 national climate commitment period. The decision, made under the Green Economy and Climate Change Act of 2024 and 2026 carbon market regulations, allows international transfer of eligible credits under the Paris Agreement framework. BURN has distributed nearly 67,000 energy-efficient cooking appliances in Zambia, reaching over 322,000 people.
